Changes in Membership - from October 2012
The AVCC has just announced that from October this year, members will be able to join (and rejoin) online. For those among us who are technically challenged, they can still fill out the paper work and hand it in with their payments. This move forward will greatly reduce the workload of the clubs and will make it much easier for the members. Membership fees may have to increase slightly to accomodate these changes, but will be kept to a minimum.
June Gaven Race -- short course
For those who enjoy our monthly road race, please be advised that for the month of June, we will be using the short course. In July we are planning to start using the paid marshals and this means an increase in race fees (for the road race only) to $10 to cover these costs.
Recent changes in the fees and regulations covering road traffic controllers means that in another year or two the club may have to only use paid marshals. The training fees have just increased from $150 to over $600 per person.
GCMC New Kit
The second batch of the club kit has arrived and those who have pre ordered, their kit is available. You can pick up your order at the next Sunday race meeting you attend.
Danny Clark - Patron again for 2012.
Daniel (Danny) Clark OAM was one of Australia's best track cyclists and road racers. He was a professional rider from 1974 to 1997 and won five World Championships. His biggest Olympic success came in 1972, when he won the silver medal in the men's 1000m time trial at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany. We are proud to have Danny as Patron of the Gold Coast Masters Cycling Club. Danny races regularly with the club when he is in town.
The Gold Coast Masters Cycling Club
The GCMC CLUB INC. GOLD COAST, QUEENSLAND is affiliated with the AVCC (Aust Vets Cycling Council) and warmly welcomes male and female cyclists from 35 & 30 years of age respectively and social members of any age. Events are held throughout the year at a number of different venues in the Gold Coast area. All competitors are graded or handicapped with regard to their performance and fitness to ensure they race in a group compatible with their ability.
Join The GC Masters Cycling Club
When you join the GCMC club you will be covered by their extensive 7 days a week insurance policy. Most clubs only insure you when you are racing with them or on specific rides. The GC Masters insurance is not limited in that way. Any time you are a club sanctioned ride, you are insured.... AND the cost is so low. Our annual subs are only $80.00. No other club offers this cover. As will all Veterans clubs throughout Australia, our aim is to increase interest in cycling especially in the Master's category. Come and join us and have a great time with great people.
